2019 Civic Holiday Weekend
181st Civic Holiday Weekend – August 3rd, 4th & 5th
The weekend is a busy one with a BBQ and dance on Saturday, swimming and canoe races on Sunday and running races on Monday.
Saturday
- SLSC Civic Holiday Sailing Regatta – 9 am registration.
- Skippers’ meeting at 10:00 am, and first gun is at 11:00 am.
- Registration is $10 for adults and $5 for kids. There is an additional $5 fee if you would like to order lunch on the water.
- SLSC boats will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis, with priority to the junior club members.
- Everyone is encouraged to come down and sail!
- BBQ & Street Dance at the Park – event starts at 6pm
- Hamburgers, cake and refreshments
- Renew your SPA membership
- Live music and glow sticks for the kids!
- NOTE: The event wraps up at 11pm SHARP. Please be respectful of this shutdown time as we do not want to jeopardize the ability to host this event in the future.
Sunday
- The Food Drive donations will be collected following the church service on Sunday and at the running races on Monday.
- Water Races at the public dock – 2pm. See details below.
- Sailing Regatta Prize Giving at Rosehill (7 Henry Street) at 7pm
- If you won a trophy last year, please remember to have it engraved with your name and bring it to Rosehill on Sunday, or drop it off at the club at any point this week.
Monday
- Running & Novelty Races at Swannanoa (50 Lake Avenue) – 10am. See details below.
- The Food Drive donations will be collected at the running races on Monday if you didn’t have a chance to donate at the Church on Sunday.
BBQ and Dance
When: Saturday, August 3rd
Time: 6pm to 11pm
Where: The Park
Enjoy this annual event where the community comes together to socialize.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, pop, juice, water & dessert will be served.
A reminder not to bring glass items to the park.
Water Street Clothesline and SLSC will have tables with swag.
