Calling All Easter Volunteers

Sad BunnyFor the past few years, we have celebrated Easter as a community with a Easter in the Park Party. It usually happens on the Saturday afternoon in the park. Traditionally there is an Easter Egg hunt, craft, food, and general fun!

We are looking for volunteers to run this event. We have had NO volunteers step up and organize this event. Unless some volunteers do, this event will not happen this year. If any-one wishes to step up, we an provide you with past information and documents, and some assistance for this event.

If you want to know more about this event or you are willing to help, please email contact [email protected].

Thank you for all the volunteers, past and present, who do help with the Sturgeon Point Association.

Road Work at Sturgeon Point March 2014

Update from Jim Milford – Roads & Maintenance

March 10, 2014

Jim met with City of Kawartha Lakes roads staff on March 10th. Irene and Lake Avenues were graded and driveways cleared of the ice from the grading. The grader winged back the ice and snow as far as possible, Irene is a bit wider now. The roads were also sanded and salted.
We have had an exceptional amount of snow this year and the plough operators are running out of places to put it all!

Sturgeon Point Leaf Dump

The Leaf Dump is certainly at it’s busiest these days and it has become apparent that it is getting close to capacity. There has been a bit of contention at the leaf dump as of late, with some notice of construction material and brush being dumped as well as non-community members using it.  The village is privileged to have such a convenient location to dispose of leaves and clippings.  Unfortunately, with the Leaf Dump being mis-used, the cost of maintaining this area is rising.

The Leaf Dump is owned by the Sturgeon Point Land Trustees and maintained by the Sturgeon Point Association with operating costs covered by the Sturgeon Point Association membership fees. We are concerned that with the increase in cost to maintain the Leaf Dump could result in increasing membership fess or having to close the Leaf Dump.  After a meeting with the Sturgeon Point Land Trustees, it was decided that the Leaf Dump should only be available for Sturgeon Point Association Members. As of November 1st, a combination lock will be put on the entrance gate to the Leaf Dump. All Sturgeon Point Association Members will be given the combination in a future email. We would ask that you unlock the gate when in use and lock it when not in use. We are hoping this will streamline the operation of the dump.

If you are not a Sturgeon Point Association member, please go to the Sturgeon Point Association website for a membership form (https://www.sturgeonpoint.com/spa-membership/).

Thank you,
