Sturgeon Lake Sailing Club hosting the MIDS August 6th-7th

The Point continues to be an active place, even after last weekend’s busy Regatta weekend .The SLSC is hosting the 2011 Mid Ontario Regatta this weekend. This is a competitive event that attracts many young sailors from all over the Province, year after year. As a result you’ll probably notice some additional activity this weekend, both on and off the water.

The SLSC has a great reputation for putting on the regattas, and the hospitality that Sturgeon Point shows every year plays an important role. Thanks to all of you who are billeting, feeding, or otherwise helping all of the sailors and visitors to our Village this weekend.

Let’s hope for sun and wind!

If you’d like to know more about this event or the club, please visit the SLSC’s web site.

Regatta Weekend Is Upon Us!

The August Long Weekend is here, and this is a reminder that there will be a BBQ and Street Dance for everyone in Sturgeon Point at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30th, at the Park. Everyone is welcome. Come on down and shake it out with all of your friends and neighbours.

REGATTA EVENTS:

Don’t forget that the swimming and canoe events have been moved to Sunday afternoon this year. Please bring a life jacket and water shoes if you’re coming to participate in those events.

Swimming and Canoe Races: 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon (July 31st) at the Public Beach.

Running Races: 10:00 a.m. Monday morning (Aug 1st) on the beautiful lawns of Swannanoa

Road work in the final stretch…

After a brief hiatus on our road rehabilitation, Mr. Grader and Mr. Roller finally started their jobs on Second and Third Streets today. This was great fun to watch for fans of those “Big Truck” shows. The paving work will start tomorrow, although it is uncertain whether that task will be completed in a single day. It will almost certainly be completed on Friday. There will be clean up and finishing work to do afterwards. This may drag into next week. I think we can reasonably expect the road crews to be clear of the Village before the August long weekend. Residents of Second and Third Streets will rejoice!
